Book review: The Little Prince

image

“Grown-ups never understand anything by themselves, and it is tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them.”

“Les grandes personnes ne comprennent jamais rien toutes seules, et c’est fatigant, pour les enfants, de toujours et toujours leur donner des explications.”

As a child I could 100% relate to this quote and as an adult it remembers me how simple things can be and not to overthink stuff.

This book has a very special place in my heart, not only because it was my first book but also because of all the different ways you can interpret this wonderful reading experience. My passion for this book is so big that throughout the years I have developed the custom of buying whatever copy I come across to then give it away to anyone that has not read the book yet.

Written and illustrated by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and first published in 1943 this book has been printed in over 24 countries all over the world. You can read it several times and discover something new over and over again and it will make you think things through and maybe even reconsider the way you have been thinking about them. A great story for 3 – 100 year olds that will never get boring and will trigger your imagination.

As a child I dreamed of The Little Prince’s adventures, his rose, his paintings and the wonderful people he met in his life. As a grown up I would say it’s the most creative and wonderful biography I have ever read.

Embrace the sadness, you need it, it is the only way you will be able to really enjoy happiness - Mark

If you like to travel light this is a must have in your wardrobe. The Swiss army knife of Wolford: the Fatal Dress. Wear it as a skirt, dress, top and play with the lengths. Best of it all: even after a 9 hour flight packed between your shoes the dress will look like new.

I love Rotterdam! Its always changing, less touristy then Amsterdam and therefore you definitely get more feel of the ‘city’ life in The Netherlands.  Big plus: always a new spot to visit.

Klaus K Design Hotel Helsinki

If you are looking for a small boutique design hotel in Helsinki this is the place to be.

The Klaus K was the first design hotel in Helsinki that opened its doors in 2005 by the couple Marc and Mia Skvorc.

Located in the heart of the city on the Boulevardi this great hotel will win over your heart. The restaurant Toscanini serves tasty Italian food and afterwards you can walk over Ahjo: de wine bar & nightclub of the hotel in which they will make any cocktail you feel like with love! Ask the barman for tasty cloudberry or ‘Lakka’ cocktail.. pure love in a glass!

The rooms have a warm interior and free wifi. My mini bar was filled with empty vodka bottles but I was enjoying a nice Finland vodka within minutes after my call to the reception. And if you feel like relaxing in the privacy of your own bathroom fill up the bath and pamper yourself with the wonderful products of MALIN+GOETZ which they also sell at the Klaus K Market down at the reception.

So with its personal service, lovely day spa, tasty restaurant & wine bar, free wifi & super central location its definitely the place to stay in Helsinki.
